Australia's favourite drummer girl, G Flip delivered Perth Festival's only officially sold out show (despite being a late addition to the program) thanks to a live performance reputation that has been steadily simmering away over the last two years. Those who recently attended her festival set at Laneway, or last year's Freo Social show, were already muscling to the the front long before she hit the stage at 10pm.

Georgia Flipo's rise from her bedroom, to band mate, to front woman is testament to her grit, talent and supportive Dad who introduced her to Triple J's Hottest 100, in which she would later star.

G Flip's tracks have all enjoyed heavy radio play, meaning every track she performs is greeted like an old friend with the audience bouncing and singing along with the lyrics to About You from the get go . Without getting bogged down in chat, which can get irksome, G Flip merrily gives quick context (most songs relating to her partner) before launching into her big drum beats and LGBT positive lyrics in You &I.

The Jet cover Are you Gonna be My Girl proved the perfect vehicle for G Flip to up the pace and volume and give us some big rock drums and guitar and it was followed by her drum solo interlude which featured a blacked out stage and neon drumsticks and the Phil,Collins drum solo from In the Air Tonight.

The unreleased track Hyperfine bookended the set, fitting comfortably along her other hits, before the encore unleashed the breakouts hit Killing My Time andDrink Too Much.

G Flip brings absolute unbridled joy to her shows - she is about the happiest camper you'll ever see on a stage and oh how she rocks in kicks and tube socks.

Following her sold out Freo.Social and Perth Festival shows, G Flip has proved she is much more than 45 minute mid-program set, and she is clearly relishing the chance to step up to a headline slot. As her catalogue and collaborations grow, she should rightly expect to cement this position.
